Sticky Teriyaki Tofu



Crispy tofu cubes dipped in a savory and sweet homemade teriyaki sauce make up the delectable vegan dish Sticky Teriyaki Tofu. This recipe is simple to prepare and ideal for a quick weeknight supper.

Ingredients:

  • 1 block tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions:

In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger to make the teriyaki sauce

In a separate bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to create a slurry

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat

Add cubed tofu to the skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides

Pour teriyaki sauce over the tofu and stir to coat evenly

Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the tofu

Serve Sticky Teriyaki Tofu over cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions
