Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt
Add the scraped vanilla bean and seeds to the saucepan
Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally
Once simmering, remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl, discarding the vanilla bean
Cover and chill the mixture in the refrigerator until cold, at least 4 hours or overnight
Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until thickened and creamy
Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze until firm, about 4 hours or overnight
