Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped

Instructions:

In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt

Add the scraped vanilla bean and seeds to the saucepan

Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally

Once simmering, remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes

Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl, discarding the vanilla bean

Cover and chill the mixture in the refrigerator until cold, at least 4 hours or overnight

Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until thickened and creamy

Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze until firm, about 4 hours or overnight
